What Students Are Saying

"I am a recent graduate of Alberta Foothills Farrier School. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is getting into the farrier business. Bill - the chief instructor -is a passionate, experienced, easy approachable and easy going professional. His ethical approach towards all aspects of the course, the theories and hands-on part are second to none! It is taught in a very professional setting. What impressed me most is his concern for the well-being of the horses and his desire to pass this attitude and passion on to his students! Thank you for passing your skills and work-ethics on to us." - M-J (Mark) Nussbaumer, CD, Sgt (ret) Canadian Forces

"I started the Alberta Foothills Farrier Course as a beginner, only ever watching the farrier trim and shoe my horses. The week long course was hands-on from the start, working on live horses of all sizes and with all different feet. Bill was at your side whenever you had a question or needed a demonstration, but also provided you with the room and responsibility to make some of your own decisions and gain confidence in your new skills. I feel I can go home and work on my own horses and plan to be back next year to take my trimming and shoeing to the next level and learn even more from this knowledgeable and personable instructor. What an AWESOME week." - Sean, Carstairs, Alberta

"I am so grateful to have been able to take part in the Alberta Foothills Farrier School. The knowledge gained by attending is immeasurable and some of the best money I have invested in my equine pursuits. Bill is a great teacher. I wish we could clone him and have a bunch of these farrier schools all over Canada! He is a fountain of knowledge, and gives it freely. He gives students the space they need to practice, but is never far away if they need help. Ever supportive, Bill will make suggestions to better the student's methods and skills. I left after five days feeling confident that I could go home and properly care for my horses' feet. When I did arrive home, I was able to spot the problems I had overlooked, and was able to correct angles that had been slipping over time. I know my horses are happier for it! Thanks so much, Bill. I learned so much! - Julie Ham, Northern Alberta
