Instructor
Bill Nate has been a farrier in Alberta for over 25 years, shoeing all kinds of rodeo, performance and pleasure horses. A graduate of Oklahoma State Farrier School, Bill has instructed several apprentices who have graduated and gone on to work as professional farriers. Bill was raised on a ranch in southern Alberta. He grew up on the rodeo circuit as a competitive team roper. He also worked in the outfitting industry for 17 years where he shod horses for the mountains. An avid horseman, Bill has a passion for horses and has always enjoyed sharing his knowledge and passing it on to others. His goal is to help everyday horse people properly maintain the feet of their own horses and understand the basics of shoeing. |
"I am so thankful for this course. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn trimming or shoeing. Bill was amazing and I left feeling more confident in being able to do my own horses. After looking into other programs, I decided to take Bill's and am so glad I did. The first day I learned how to put on shoes on a live horse. Bill was right there to help with any questions and allowed you to learn at your own pace. The facility and staff were fantastic and all the different horses and feet you worked on was wonderful. Thank you so much Bill. You have a gift and I'm so thankful for the learning experience." - Megan, Diamond City, Alberta

"I attended Bill Nate's farrier school on shoeing and was not disappointed. Everything was hands-on from the start and with my questions or for help, Bill was right there to lend a hand. I'd definitely recommend the school to anyone who is wanting to become a farrier." - Clay, Bashaw, Alberta

"I came across the Alberta Foothills Farrier School online, after having troubles finding a reliable farrier. I had very little knowledge of trimming and absolutely no experience with shoeing. Bill was an outstanding teacher, very knowledgeable and patient. I would highly recommend this course for anybody who is looking at doing this as a career or just for themselves. I have left feeling confident that I can work on my own horses at home." - Robin, Grand Prairie, Alberta
